Do you consider yourself a happy person? How do you even characterise a happy person? Is Happiness a Choice?
Are you someone who is content? Someone who is always smiling? Someone who never cries?
It’s unrealistic to be happy 100% of the time, because life is full of ups and downs, regardless of whether you’re constantly smiling or not. Because of that fact, we have to ask ourselves, is happiness something which happens to us, or is it something we choose?
Happiness really is a choice in many ways. You can program your mind to be negative, and therefore never seeing the joy in anything, always being down or unhappy, or you can decide to be positive, creating habits to make your mind always gravitate towards the positive side of life, and therefore ensure a happier life overall.
Which would you prefer? And, more importantly, which camp are you in currently?
If you don’t put effort and time into ensuring that your life is a happy one, you are living a life of darkness. Of course, as we mentioned at the beginning, sometimes things happen in life which cannot possibly make us happy, no matter how we think about them, such as the death of a loved one, for instance. But we also have to understand the bigger picture – life goes on, and after the grieving period, we have to pick ourselves up and carry on, just as our passed loved one would have wanted.
Having a positive outlook on life isn’t always easy, not when it is tested, but it is vital to a contented life to at least try.
Positivity is key. We can’t stress this enough. Negativity will lead you down a road of dark and unhappy times, and could even make you suffer from anxiety and depression. If you can learn how to train your mind to think of the positive first, rather than the negative, then you stand a much better chance at a happy and fulfilled life.
Learning how to take joy in the smaller things in life, rather than lamenting what you don’t have currently is vital. Life isn’t about always having what you want, it is about learning to appreciate the small things; ironically, by having that outlook on life, you are actually putting yourself in a much better position to manifest greater happiness and joy into your life too.
So, do you choose to be happy?
Of course, everyone is going to say ‘yes’, because who wants to choose to be sad? But, are you doing everything you can to ensure that choice happens, or are you expecting a magic wand to come and tap you on the head? Life doesn’t happen to you, you influence what happens by your own mind and your own actions.
If on the other hand you can embrace positivity, if you see every small opportunity as a chance to improve, while also creating a more healthy relationship with life in general, you will soon see the very positive results of your actions and thought processes.
How do you feel about your life? Are you content? Do you want more? Is there something you want to attract, but you don’t know how to do it? Harnessing the extreme power of your mind is the biggest weapon you have in your fight against regret and unhappiness.
If there is something you want, or you simply don’t feel happy and content, then you owe it to yourself to do some very deep thinking, and to examine your relationship with yourself. What is stopping you from going after what you want? What is stopping you from getting what you want? Is this a pattern? Once you have some answers, you can take steps to change your mind towards embracing a positive mindset, learning how to attract an abundance of happiness into your life.
Let’s face it, life is far too short to be anything but happy, and if there is anything we can do to push happiness towards us, we should be doing it wholeheartedly. Life is no picnic, but if you continue with the idea that life happens to you, then you are missing the point entirely.
